Capital City Volleyball Social Competitions
Information
The competition is divided into:
- 1 or 2 grading games
- 1st round robin of 5 games. Teams then re-graded
- 2nd round robin of 5 games.
Prizes are awarded to the team(s) who best contribute to the competition judged on prompt payment
of fees, game time punctuality, court presentation, game results and performance of duties.
Rules
Normal volleyball rules apply including ball can touch any part of body, double-hit
permitted on 1st touch only, but no lifting or carrying with full open hand contact.
If the ball contacts the roof and does not pass over the net play can continue.
A player is permitted to play for only their regular playing team.
A team must have 5 players,any less will results in a loss although a friendly game
can be played (3 or 4 aside)
A team can have any number of substitutes and can substitute at any time when the
ball is not in play.
Play is governed by a time limit so all teams get equal amount of play.
When time is up the current rally can be completed.
Sets are played up to 25pts using the rally point score system. At 24 all next point
wins the set.
A point is awarded for each set won and half a point if leading the last set.
Two bonus points are awarded to the winner and 1 each is given if a draw.
A uniform point is awarded if all players are in uniform (uniform=same coloured tops)
per game.
All teams are required to do duty once every 6 weeks. This requires refs for all 3 courts.
Failure to do this duty results in a loss of 3 competition points.
