INFORMATION AND RULES
1. Volleyball New Zealand rules apply except as stated in the points below.
2. Teams will consist of a maximum of 6 players on court at any time,
and a minimum of 4.
3. Each team must be ready to start at the scheduled time for their
game. Games will be 50 minutes in length.
4. Should a team not be complete at the correct start time,they have 5
minutes to produce a mimimum of 4 regular players.Failure to do so will
result in a default of the game with the appropriate penalty.
5. Players can only be registered for one team.
6. In the spirit of competition,additional players may not be imported
from a team of a higher grade or within A Grade unless a default has occurred.
Any questions on player eligibility should be referred to the
referee and gym supervisor.
7. Each team will be required to officiate for the games allocated to
them in the schedule.3 games at the same time will be allocated so the .
whole team will be required for officiating.This means officiating has
to be done only once every 6 weeks and no bottom grade team will
officate for a top grade team.
8 Failure to provide officals at the correct time will incur the
appropriate penalty.
9. We are committed to encouraging competent refereeing standards.
However mistakes will happen and players are asked to be patient and
referees are encouraged to be consistent.Only the captain may approach the referee for clarifiacation of a decision.The referee may penalise
a team or its players for a breach of volleyball court etiquette as follows - 1st warning to a player and inform captain,2nd warning player
to be sent off for the rest of the match.Both captains and referee will
report incident to gym supervisor for appropriate action.
10.Captains' signatures are now required on scoresheets each week as offical
acknowledgement of the reults of the game.
11.A team can have any number of substitutions and can sub at any time when
the ball is not in play.
12.No timeouts permitted as playing time is only 50 mins.
13.For safety and fairness,should a ball from a court enter play in another, the referee must immediately indicate a let and replay the point.
14.Scoring will be by the rally point system,if you win a rally you win a
point.Sets are up to 20 points,first to 20 wins the set.At the
completion of allocated time whoever is leading the last set will be
awarded half a point,even if leading by only 1 point.If the score is even
no half points for either team.
15.Competition points awarded as follows
Each set won 1 point
Leading last set in progress half a point
Win 2 points
Draw 1 point
Loss 0 point
Team Default 1 point deducted
Duty Default 4 points deducted
16.A uniform point each week is also awarded if the whole team is in uniform.
Uniform means team members wearing the same coloured tops.
17.Tourney Format -
a.4 grades of 6 teams
b.2 round robins of 5 games each
c.All points zeroed at end of each round
d.Regrading may occur between rounds
e.Finals night will consist of the final game of the 3rd round.
